Creating a PDF from a Joomla database
The Bead Database was a web based catalog of beads from around the planet. The website had been developed using Joomla and the MySQL files had become corrupt possibly due to getting hacked.
'58 ALL' extracted the data from the database dump into more meaningful text files. We then analysed the data to salvage what we could from what was left.
A new parser script was then developed to convert the database into a PDF document. But if the whole website is developed and managed by '58 ALL', then you get the added value of "Organic Search Engine Optimisation" (SEO), which should increase your Google search engine ranking.
The Website Toolkit News pages are individually optimised for the search engines but our Toolkit can be extended to recreate the Sitemap.xml file which is what most search engine spiders and robots look for.

Jay's Foods - Catalog, website & show stand
The International Food Exhibition 2011 was the destination for Jays Foods Ltd this year, and to be ready for the show and to maximise return, 58 ALL commissioned Doug Hendry to design a set of icons that would complement the website, the catalogs and the display stand.
The 10 icons where fine tuned for maximum appeal by Doug. 58 ALL then wrote a Perl script which takes a folder full of photos and an Excel spreadsheet and automatically creates a food catalog as a series of .TIFF files. We also designed the front and back cover.
we assised Jays in the layout and design of the IFE 2011 display stand which involved imagining what the stand would look like from each of the 4 approach avenues. We considered how people would view and use the exhibits and how best to engage with the potential customers placing a food tasting kiosk in a prime location.
Another Perl script was then written to take the Excel spredsheet and stock photos to create the web pages. The photos where automatically watermarked and resized. We also assisted in the setting up of a mini studio so we could take these stock photos. The two websites are very basic but effective.

A very simple search engine dedicated to the plumbing trade. The idea is that hard-to-find spare parts will be easily found when the plumbing supplys shops signup and upload their stock.
Only stock that is on the shelves will be loaded - no prices, just quantity. Let just my stock do the searching for you, rather then phoning around or loosing a sales lead.
The data is uploaded as a CSV file and is then broken down into manufacturers making it very fast to search. No RDBMS - just good old Perl scripts!

Donald Pass - Panoramic painting
Donald Pass is an artist whose work has been inspired by an epiphany he experienced in 1969. Fantastic dramatic "resurrection" images which have effected people in different ways over the years.
The ultimate experience to appreciate this art is to be immersed in it, and that is what we intend to do with the work. Taking the paintings from a 2D perspective, cutting them up, reshaping them and animating them in the virtual darkroom to make an immersive full dome short animation film.
The first step was to prove this could be done. We took one painting and rebuilt it into a Hemispherical image. You can view a <a class=maincopy href='../photo-albums/donald-pass/index.htm' target=_blank'>Quicktime version of this image.
Another painting has been made into a full 360° Quicktime cylinderical immersive which you can <a class=maincopy href='../photo-albums/donald-pass/pass.htm' target=_blank'>view here.
The aim of this experimental project is to create a short film which can be viewed in a planetarium. Immersing the viewer into the mind of the artist, taking art and creativity to a new dimension.
There is also a <a class=maincopy href='../photo-albums/donald-pass/thumbs.htm' target=_blank'>painting gallery for you to peruse other pieces of Donald's master pieces.
